The series of activities for the search for the New ICS Director has already commenced last Tuesday, October 3, 2023. The first activity was the presentation of the accomplishments of the incumbent director of ICS, Prof. Jaderick P. Pabico and the presentation of plans for the institute by the sole candidate for directorship, Dr. Maria Art Antonette D. Clariño.
The Zoom meeting started with an introduction by the head of the search committee, Dr. Rico C. Ancog, followed by Prof. Pabico’s presentation which highlighted the institute’s response to the challenges of the pandemic which happened during his term as the Director of ICS. He also presented the accomplishments of the institute according to its main functions which include instruction, research and extension. He also acknowledged all the faculty and staff of ICS for their hard work and cooperation.
Prof. Pabico’s report was immediately followed by Dr. Clariño’s presentation of plans for the institute. Her focus is on how to address the needs of all the stakeholders. She plans to continue some of the activities that are already in place and design more for the improvement of the institute and its stakeholders.
The last part of the Zoom activity was the Q and A session with the nominee, where a number of attendees asked their questions including how Dr. Clariño plans to address the faculty retention at ICS, as well as the increasing committee work of the faculty members, and finally the legacy she wishes to leave behind.
The Zoom meeting started at 2pm and was attended by the search committee led by Dr. Ancog, the Dean of CAS, Dr. Maribel L. Dionisio-Sese, directors of other CAS units, faculty, staff and students.
The remaining activities for the ICS Director search will be the individual consultations with ICS constituents, and the preparation and submission of the final report by the search committee to the UPLB Chancellor.
