
Dr. Maria Art Antonette Clariño, Mr. Jamlech Iram N. Gojo Cruz (faculty members), and Mr. Lorenzo Miguel Ocampo (alumnus) from the Institute of Computer Science showcased their research at the 6th International Conference on Computer Communication and the Internet (ICCCI) last June 14-16, 2024 held in Tokyo, Japan.


Mr. Ocampo, a 2023 BSCS graduate, presented the research project titled A Novel Automatic Definition Selector and Scoring Scheme for the Identification of Filipino Metaphors with Dr. Clariño as his adviser. The work was presented in the Recent Trends in Artificial Intelligence and Interdisciplinary Aspects session.
Mr. Gojo Cruz’s research, Utilizing Naïve Bayes for Multidimensional Poverty Classification and Identifying Key Poverty Determinants, focused on applying machine learning techniques to social issues and was presented in the Big Data and Machine Learning track. The research originated from his course project under Prof. Prospero C. Naval Jr. in the Artificial Intelligence program of UP Diliman.
ICCCI 2024 served as a platform for international exchange, attracting researchers and educators from across the globe, including Japan, Ireland, the USA, Germany, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Slovenia, China, and many other countries. Co-sponsored by Central China Normal University and The Science and Engineering Institute, the conference was hosted by Tokyo Metropolitan University and patroned by Shonan Institute of Technology, Nihon University, Okayama University, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, USA.
